Quick Creamy Tawa Rice Recipe:

Main Ingredient: cooked brown Rice, Cream and yoghurt

Ingredients: 

  • 2 cups cooked brown or white rice as per choice 
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 cup finely sliced onions
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • ½ cup sweet corn, cooked, boiled and drained
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 4 tablespoon fresh curds
  • 1/4 cup fresh cream
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder or to taste
  • Grated processed cheese as per taste
  • Chopped green coriander as per taste or required, optional 

Method: 
  1. In a broad, heavy bottom pan or Tawa (griddle) over medium heat the oil.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté on a medium flame until translucent.
  3. Add the garlic paste and sauté on a medium flame for another 1 minute.
  4. Add tomato, capsicum, corn, turmeric powder, chilli powder and yoghurt and sauté on a medium flame for 2 more minutes.
  5. Add the cooked rice, cream and salt mix well and cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  6. Creamy rice is ready to serve.

Serving suggestion:

  • Garnish with finely chopped green coriander and grated processed cheese and serve immediately.
  • Serve hot with raita or papads or salad.
