Peanut chutney is a one of the easiest chutney to prepare.Peanut chutney is a perfect side dish for idli, dosa, vada, uttapam and upma. The peanut chutney is a good substitute for coconut chutney If you like peanuts.

Ingredients:

For Relish/Chutney: 
  • ½ cup Peanuts        
  • ¼ cup grated coconut.
  • 1 small piece Ginger (optional)
  • Tamarind pulp/paste to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 Red chilies or green chili (optional)
For Tempering:
  • 1-2 teaspoon Oil
  • ½ teaspoon Mustard seed (rai)
  • 1 teaspoon black gram (Urad dal)
  • Pinch of Asafetida (optional)      
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
Preparation:
  • Roast the peanuts and remove its skin to some extent.

Method:

  1. Grind roasted peanuts, coconut, chilies, tamarind and salt first. 
  2. Then add more water as required and grind it to a slightly smooth paste.
  3. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, when mustard splutters, add urad dal and curry leaves and pour it over the chutney.
  4. Mix well and serve with idli and dosa.
